Key Lime Lusciousness

Call it a serious case of "spring fever!" This dreary winter day needed a luscious key lime cuppie to brighten things up. This tangy-sweet key lime cake is a little cup of layered goodness. The strata of this cupcake includes a middle layer of key lime custard, sandwiched between two layers of moist key lime vanilla cake. Topping this sweet dessert is a generous swirl of key lime cream cheese icing. Spring, please hurry! Key lime cupcake, please last forever!

Portal Cube Cake

This chocolate chunk, fudge iced, fondant-covered cake was created for a young adult male's birthday party. He is a major fan of the computer game "Portal," and apparently this cube is significant somehow (although, I honestly don't know details about the game). Also, the phrase "A cake is a lie!" is supposedly quite a funny joke (again, I unfortunately don't know how or why). My hope is that this cake will be devoured and enjoyed by all the "boys" at the birthday party. This cake is delicious . . . and that's no lie!

Fresh Spring blossoms in February? Yep!

This elegant birthday cake makes me wish it were warmer outside and that the beautiful Spring roses on top were real! But, alas, it is COLD and all living blossoms are tucked safely in their cocoon of hibernation. So, I created intricate roses out of gum paste instead! They are every bit as beautiful as the "real thing," but are made of sugar. An added bonus is they never need to be watered, weeded, or pruned. Eye candy extraordinaire!

This cake is signature Sweet T inside and out: delicious vanilla cake, filled with vanilla buttercream, and topped with made-from-scratch fondant (no marshmallows in my fondant . . . just pure tastiness). My favorite details are the two fondant drapes on opposite corners. Eating this fancy cake is certainly the best way to celebrate a Happy 85th Birthday!

Cupcakes, with cookies, and cream . . . oh my!

These rich, moist cupcakes taste exactly like a scoop of cookies and cream ice cream . . . only without the freeze. The muffin-like vanilla cream cake is studded with large chunks of Double Stuf chocolate sandwich cookies. While the butter cream icing is blended with finely crushed chocolate sandwich cookies and whipping cream. The icing alone tastes exactly like a cookies and cream milk shake . . . again without the freeze. The chunks of cookie in the cake, and small bits of cookie in the icing provide the perfect contrast for any cookies and cream lover's palate. The only improvement I can think of for this delicious cuppie would be to place one beautiful chocolate sandwich cookie on the crown of each cake. Next time for sure!

Candied pecan cuppies, with a heavenly dollop of butter rum . . . YUM!

Yum, yum, heaven, heaven, delicious, delicious, GIVE ME MORE! This absolutely F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S cupcake is so amazing it even surprises me and my trusty buds of taste. This unbelievably delectable treat is the perfect combination of flavors. This moist, dense candied pecan cupcake is topped with a fluffy dollop of butter rum icing and crowned with a sprinkling of more candied pecans. For pecan and butter rum lovers, this cupcake is the ultimate delight. Don't expect these cuppies to last long. This is definitely a scarf-worthy dessert! Four bites . . . maybe five, and you'll be begging for more. Speaking of . . . I think I have an appointment with a certain left-over cupcake in my refrigerator. Ahhhhh, pure joy!

Valentine Cakies of Goodness

These addictive (in a good way) Sweet T's sugar cookies are more like soft, little cakes than cookies. Hence, I hearby dub them "cakies" (of the Valentine variety). Each of these little beauties are iced and detailed with Sweet T's classic buttercream icing and just begging to be devoured. It is impossible to eat just one of these happy little love treats . . . and if you try to attempt it, you will only crave for and dream of the moment your teeth will next sink into one of these delectable sweets. Don't resist, just enjoy!

Cute little fondant baby.

Despite its appearance, this is NOT a hunk of bread dough. Nope! This is a portion of freshly-made Sweet T's signature fondant. It is just like a little baby. It must be cared for or it will not be able to become something beautiful in the future. After being made, this little fondant baby must be wrapped up tight in a blanket of plastic wrap. Then wrapped again, just to make sure it stays moist. After that, it must be placed in a zip top bag and allowed to sleep for at least one night. After a bit of beauty rest, this little baby is ready to be kneaded, colored, rolled, cut, etc. and placed on cupcakes or cakes. Finally, when all grown up, it will bring joy and a smile to someone's life and will taste delicious too. It's so hard to say goodbye to my little fondant babies. But, like any mother, it is so satisfying to see a little one make its way in the world and become something spectacular!
